The pig operation is one of our self-sustaining projects. Within the 22 acres of Cindi’s Hope, an agricultural area has been designated. Pig stalls have been constructed and fish ponds dug. When considering livestock, pigs have a higher productivity rate compared to sheep, goats, and dairy. They do not require any grazing and remain in their stalls their lives. The average pig will have 6-12 piglets twice per year producing a continuous harvest. Recently, three of the pigs gave birth and now there are 25 piglets! One more mama pig is expected to give birth at the end of July 2012. The piglets will be raised and sold at the market in February of 2013.
